We recently finished renovating our entire home and the whole process was amazing. Our home was built in the early 80s and required a complete renovation; changing the lay out and completely replacing everything. The whole home was taken down to the studs and rebuilt from the studs up. Naturally we were nervous about finding the right builder to help make our dreams come true in the least stressful way possible.
Vdara, an amazing Canberra-based building team that is headed by husband-and-wife team Adam and Amanda, helped us build our dream home.
I can’t really find the words to express how grateful I am for Vdara and their amazing support, effort, and attention to detail in every area of their building, sourcing materials, and follow-up service. They provided a quote for how long building would take and then delivered our fully renovated home within this timeframe. All of our friends were astounded that our home was finished one month early, plus we didn’t encounter any difficulties along the way.
No request was too difficult or too much. Adam was amazing at saying ‘we’ll make it happen’ whenever I requested something. Vdara’s team of builders were always friendly to us whenever we were on site.
We love our house and are very proud of the level of quality throughout the house. We now have a fabulous new home, and the heart of the home is most definitely our dream kitchen. We wanted a large kitchen island where the kids could sit and do homework while we cooked dinner, or where our friends and family could congregate.

VDARA’s interest in our project, practical mindsets and willingness to take on the challenge was reassuring and refreshing. They had a consistent team of tradespeople who were present throughout the build, and obviously enjoyed working together, took pride in their work and kept the site immaculately clean and presentable at all times.
We were impressed by the speed and attention to detail demonstrated by the VDARA team led by Adam and ably supported by Amanda. Despite a global virus pandemic, the VDARA team managed to maintain momentum throughout, completing the construction work within a tight timeframe - driven primarily by the impending birth of our second child.
Adam’s positivity and ability to interpret our design intent into a built outcome made the process incredibly smooth. He took the time to provide regular progress updates and map out the works planned for the coming weeks. Amanda did an incredible job sourcing the specified materials, fittings and fixtures that were scarce during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when building supplies were limited.

Home Renovation
With a house over 40 years old, it was run down and just not functioning for our large family of seven. In need of a renovation, we commenced work with VDARA. Adam and Amanda were great to talk to during the planning and construction stages. They were patient, knowledgeable and thought creatively to help make our vision a reality.
Gutting the entire house, we relocated our laundry, opened up a wall between the kitchen and dining room, redid our ensuite, main bathroom and kitchen.
Our kitchen is the hub of the home. It is now spacious, light-filled and functions exceptionally well. Our bathrooms have also been designed for easy use, keeping everything clean and simple. Our main living area is now open, giving us the space we need to enjoy together.
We are delighted with our new home and thankful every day at how much easier the renovation makes our life.

Bedroom and Bathroom Renovation
Adam and Amanda of Vdara Construction are a dynamic duo! They are friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and well organised. They are always available for discussion and nothing is ever too difficult for them. They take pride in their work, and expect high quality workmanship from their team of tradesmen.
Vdara have completed several renovations for us and we couldn’t be happier with the results. In 2014 they installed all new storm water drainage system. In 2016 they completed a major outdoor area and deck renovation, including structural work, installation of a large semi-commercial double-glazed sliding door and outdoor awning windows, rendering, concreting and painting. Late 2018, we again commissioned Vdara to completely renovate both bathrooms, install double-glazed windows to all four bedrooms and update the bedrooms with new gyprock, insulation, wardrobes, electrical work, paintwork and carpet.
We have had very positive outcomes for each of our renovations. The bathroom renovations in particular were perfect – no doubt due to Adam and Amanda’s years of experience. Their team of tradesmen are polite, helpful and hard-working.
We will definitely be using the services of Vdara for future renovations and would happily recommend them to anyone who is looking for high quality work.

The renovation of our house had been a ‘theoretical’ option for a number of years. When the project finally became a reality, we did our own research into the industry as well as seeking opinions from friends. Vdara came highly recommended and they had also been engaged on a number of projects in our immediate neighbourhood. From engaging Amanda + Adam at the outset, we could not have been happier with the helpful insight they provided us.
The brief was to push out the entire rear length of the house to obtain maximum exposure to the northern aspect. We love entertaining and cooking for our guests so it was essential to create an open plan living and dining area, flowing into an outdoor covered pergola. As our children get older, the space also needed to be flexible. The extension resulted in a new walk-in-pantry, laundry, bedroom and a covered alfresco entertaining area. An existing bedroom was also converted into a study (containing a pull down bed).
The VDARA team is very cohesive who all communicate internally. They even let you know when the next tradie is coming so you can plan things accordingly. When we share our wonderful experience with others who have also undertaken renovations, they often struggle to believe us! Adam and Amanda have built an amazing business over the years and it is what made our project so successful and stress-free.

We engaged Vdara Construction in 2017 to turn our house into our dream home - and Adam and his team delivered!
We had plenty of Grand Designs-type concerns going into the build, but we needn't have worried. Adam already had the confidence of our architect and interior designer, and from our first meeting he inspired confidence in us, too.
Adam understood the vision for our house, and was sympathetic to its existing features and qualities during the build. More than that - he was constantly suggesting particular techniques and finishes which best complemented our vision - which resulted in a house that has surpassed all our expectations. The complete remodelling of a home was not without hiccups along the way, but Adam poured his energy into finding solutions that not only solved the problem with minimal fuss, but improved on the original design.
Adam is a force of nature - he is enthusiastic, friendly and helpful, with a gift for thinking outside the box, and an amazing team working with him. "Vdara took care of everything from ordering our chosen tiles, furniture, taps and accessories etc., through to fitting of custom shower screens, painting and final complete cleaning of affected areas. Removal of asbestos and the removal of old floor tiles from a concrete slab added to the complexity. From our point of view the project was carried out completely seamlessly with the various trades interweaving their tasks in a most efficient manner – a testament to Vdara’s excellent project management skills and teamwork. All the tradies in the Vdara team were professional and polite and were happy to answer questions and accommodate our close interest in the work. The quality of the workmanship and the finishing is of an exceptional standard with close attention to detail . Adam worked closely with us to ensure our requirements were met and offered solutions to any issues to provide the best outcomes. An important issue for us was the timing with a fixed deadline for completion which was achieved as promised; the whole project taking just on three weeks.

This was our first home renovation and after 2 months I had almost given up hope of ever having our bathroom renovated. My husband and I were at a bathroom supplier in Fyshwick browsing the bathroom fittings and I was expressing my frustration with the tradies that I had been dealing with (purely to get some quotes). The salesperson suggested that we should give Adam at VDARA a call – so I did.
Adam was a breath of fresh air! I gave him a call and he came over within days (and when he said he was going to) He had so many Ideas about what we could do with our bathroom. Within a week we had settled on a design and a start date. We picked a date and Adam came shopping with us for everything we needed, he was very helpful when it came to choosing the different bits and pieces, and also when deciding on the type & colours of our tiles.
The start day came and all I can say is Adam and his team were awesome. They all worked extremely hard from start to finish. They cleaned up after themselves every night before leaving and were back bright and early the following morning. I was kept up-to-date with the progress of all work and any issues encountered (although minimal) were brought to my attention straight away. And I have to say the tilers were perfectionists. Our bathroom was completed within 3 weeks (with one of the weeks having heavy rain) The cost was very reasonable and we now have a beautiful bathroom. I can’t thank Adam and his team VDARA enough – great work

The first day is always the hardest – when the demolition of the old bathroom takes place. It can be a bit traumatic listening to part of your home being demolished. My wife and I took care to stay out of their way. But, at the end of the day, the bathroom was stripped, it was clean and the cover sheets protected the rest of the house from any generated mess. It’s fair to say that it’s always good to see tradesmen cleaning up at the end of a day’s work without any prompting from me. When it came to installing the new appliances we were very happy with the fact that Adam was prepared to offer products that may have cost him, not me, a few dollars more but which offered a far better outcome. His knowledge and recommendations proved invaluable. The quality and friendliness of the teams of people he had working for him was also very commendable. (A special commendation to Jake, his tiler.)
As for time delays, I did receive some calls, I understood the issues raised and was pleased that the overall time delay was minimal. Side note: Adam has just come round for a final inspection. I was happy with the work done, but there was a small flaw in the laundry ceiling that had been repainted and he has just arranged for his team to come round and fix it. He spotted it; I didn’t.
When starting any project, it’s always a concern that, at the end of the day, one may feel that the final product you’ve got is a bit disappointing and that there remains some concerns about the quality of the work done. In this case, we have a bathroom, which is better than either my wife or I expected and a feeling of satisfaction in that, yes, we had picked a good team for the job.
I might add that Adam’s expertise extends to all types of building and renovation services. Give him a call, get him round for a chat and judge for yourself. We were happy we did. I think you will be too.

"I was extremely happy with the job Vdara did with my bathroom renovation. From the positive and helpful attitude shown by Adam at the initial meeting, through to the quality of the final product, it was a very positive experience. Until then I was getting fed up with inflated prices, unrealistic time frames and the generally poor attitude shown by some tradesmen.
Adam really does have a great attitude and manner in dealing with clients. He is friendly, enthusiastic, highly professional and up front about everything. Because of his expertise across all facets of bathroom renovation he is able to suggest alternatives which improve the final product and don't necessarily involve a significant increase in cost. That was contrary to previous quotes where any 'extra' was too difficult or inflated the price greatly. When it came to scheduling the job, there was no waiting for months. I had a holiday coming up, so Adam slotted it in while I was away and I came back two weeks later to a functioning bathroom and toilet (the finishing touches took a bit longer, but having most of it done so quickly was impressive). My impression is that Vdara has a stable workforce of highly competent tradesmen and I guess that gives Vdara the flexibility to offer clients a better deal and to keep to agreed upon time frames.
Another really positive aspect was that Adam takes clients shopping for the bathroom fittings. It just made things so much easier to have him there to advise me on things I knew little about. Once I had made my choices, Amanda did the rest, organising the payment and delivery. I had already looked at tiles and found what I liked. I just sent the details to Amanda and again, she did the rest. You have to be happy with that level of service!
From my own experience and from the work I have seen at other Vdara renovations, I am more than happy to recommend Vdara for any project you may be planning."

Wanniassa Renovation

We have undertaken a number of renovations to our Chifley home, but this was a first for our daughter’s house in Wanniassa. Most of the house was in original (1970s) condition. Vdara was unquestionably the best experience that we have had in home renovations. Adam and Amanda took care of everything from ordering the materials to undertaking the project. The renovations required a wide range of sub-contractors, who were managed exceptionally well.
The project was completed to a very high standard and to the agreed (quite tight) timeframes. The bathroom was an entire makeover, requiring removal of asbestos sheeting and a wall and putting everything together again with floor to ceiling tiles, new vanity and toilet and shower screen. The lounge involved new external doors, internal sliding doors and new solid timber floor. The laundry likewise had requirements for new tiling, removal of the old hot water cupboard and new laundry bench and cupboards and stainless steel fittings. Adam worked closely with our daughter and ourselves to ensure that all requirements were met. We very much appreciated his experience and ability to value add to our proposed renovations. We would highly recommend Adam and Vdara (and not forgetting the very helpful Amanda) for any home renovation project.
We are already planning to have Vdara complete the Stage 2 renovations later in 2018.

Vdara Construction enabled the entire process of a full bathroom renovation to go ahead seamlessly. The quote was detailed and all options were discussed. Contractors were organised and the project was completed on time.
Especially beneficial was the visit to the bathroom and tile showrooms. This was done with Adam so he could ensure I got exactly the look I wanted. He went out of his way to guide me around. I am so happy with my new bathroom!
